Microblading vs Ombre Brows: What’s The Overall Difference?
Have you tried a new brow trend in the past that wound up costing you your eyebrows today? Well if you’re tired of wasting your money on brow gel, pencils, or even tint, we have the perfect solution for you! Vogue offers Ombre Powder Brows to fulfill the brows of your dreams! Ombre Powder Brows are essentially a semi-permanent styling technique that is used to create the illusion of fuller, more beautiful brows that feature a soft and powdery pencil look to them.
Microblading vs Ombre Brows: What’s The Overall Difference?
Now we know you may have questions on how this service is different from the very popular process of microblading. The most significant difference between these two styling techniques is how the pigment is added to the skin. Yes they may both be semi-permanent tattoos, but microblading uses short hair-like strokes. Ombre brows are created by using a series of many fine dots that vary in concentration, this gives the look of a powdered brow. With that saying, it’s important to note that microblading isn't suitable for all skin types. Microblading is not recommended for oily skin as the color does not show up effectively and can sometimes appear blurry. Additionally, the natural oils in your skin can also prevent the brows from healing properly. If you’re looking for the most natural and realistic brow look that will last, regardless of your skin type, we suggest you opt for the ombre technique!
What Does It Feel Like?
Now that you learned that ombre brows are a form of tattooing, you may associate that with pain, but lucky for you it’s actually the opposite of what you think! Ombre powder brows aren’t painful due to the airbrush-like technique that’s applied to the skin. Furthermore, this technique causes less trauma to the skin vs the blading technique used in microblading. The latter also creates cuts into the skin, thus more bleeding is involved. With ombre brows, minimal to zero blood surfaces during the procedure. The sensation of this service can be compared to the process of rapidly tweezing your brows, which could cause mild discomfort depending on the client’s pain tolerance. If the aspect of discomfort worries you, we have a topical anesthetic that can be applied for numbing during this procedure.
What Are The Advantages Of Trying Ombre Powder Brows?
- First and foremost, this procedure is less invasive, meaning it won’t cause as much irritation to the skin or pain for the client.
- To put it simply, results last longer than microblading. Of course results may vary depending on lifestyle, health, and skin type, but a single powder brow session can last about 2-3 years.
- Next, these brows are great for all skin types!
- Lastly, results are extremely natural! Not a fan of bold brows? This is the perfect option for clients who prefer the “no makeup” makeup look.
What To Expect During Your Service:
- You will fill out a series of detailed forms to ensure you’re a good candidate for this procedure.
- Before pictures will be taken to document the process.
- Your technician will measure your bone structure and the brow shape will be created based on this measurement.
- Once you approve the shape and all questions have been answered, the tattoo process will begin.
- Depending on your skin the tattoo process may last a few hours.
- Once the procedure is over, we recommend you making a 4-8 week appointment to check on the healing process and discuss if any touch ups are necessary.
What Does Aftercare Look Like?
For the best healed results, clients should avoid working out, sweating, and any makeup around the brows for at least two weeks. Most importantly, you should refrain from picking any scabs or dry skin that is present during the healing process, the scabs will naturally shed. Clients are advised to avoid heavy sun exposure and facial treatments during this time as well. After the procedure, our technician will provide you with an aftercare ointment that should be used daily to protect your new brows.
What DoesThe Healing Process Look Like?
Immediately following the procedure, brows will appear darker and bolder. This is the initial healing process and it will last about a week. During the second week of healing, clients will experience scabbing or flaking, much like when you get an actual tattoo. This scabbing period should end at the second week of healing and the brows will then appear softer and lighter. The complete healing process averages out around six weeks and this is where the true color and density of the brows are revealed. During the follow up appointment technicians can add more definition/density if needed.
